Secure Chat Successfully Launches within Epic

For All Epic Users

Secure Chat, a tool helping our care teams and staff communicate better with each other, successfully launched yesterday within Epic. Through Secure Chat, most Epic users (click for more information) can quickly and safely send non-emergent, HIPAA-compliant messaging in Epic on HM desktops, WOWs and mobile apps like Rover, Haiku and Canto. Secure Chat is an additional communication tool and is not mandatory. It doesn’t replace current methods for contacting on-call physicians. So far, feedback from those who have used this new feature has been positive.

Quick Tip: You can easily attach the patient’s chart to your Secure Chat message.

• From Haiku/Canto, tap Patient, then tap the patient’s name.

• From Rover, tap Select a Patient, then tap the patient’s name.

• From an HM workstation, click Attach Patient, then enter the patient’s name in the Patient field.
