VPN upgrade – new process, better security. If you use VPN to access the Houston Methodist network remotely, there’s a new URL to use for access – vpn.houstonmethodist.org – replacing the existing URLs for greater security and compatibility with cybersecurity protocols. You’ll also need to download the Microsoft Authenticator app and set it up on your mobile device. Every time you log in to VPN, you’ll be prompted to enter a six-digit passcode through the app.
Note: The new VPN requires a Houston Methodist-issued computer. Personal computers will not be able to connect to VPN.
To access VPN with the new URL:
- On your Houston Methodist laptop, right-click the Cisco icon from the tray at the bottom of your screen.
- Click Open AnyConnect.
- Enter vpn.houstonmethodist.org.
In addition to VPN, you can also access the Houston Methodist network remotely through apps.houstonmethodist.org or portal.office.com (Office 365).
