Updating Your I Drive to Save Files To and From Epic

You may need to update your Import File Drive (I drive) to save files to and from Epic. Since we moved Epic to the cloud, many people who previously used their personal I drives, no longer see this file in Epic. While you can use the network drive, it will work much slower.

If you’re having issues with your I drive, contact the IT Service Desk. You will be added to a list that IT is collecting to do a major update, so you can start using your I drive again. Before your update, you’ll receive an email informing you of the after-hours window, when you’ll need to refrain from using your I drive. Your update may take a few hours but after your update is complete, you’ll receive another email informing you to reboot your workstation, and the new drive should display in Epic.

Please note these additional workflows for saving to and from Epic:

  • Saved files using Epic’s Save-to-File workflows, including Release of Information, Quick Disclosure/Quick Releases, Claim Attachment and Payor platform, are stored in a new directory. To find your saved files, review this tip sheet.
  • When exporting, saving or downloading Reporting Workbench reports, don’t export files to your desktop or C drive. Instead, use this tip sheet to browse to your I drive within Epic.
  • Importing into Epic from shortcut folders is no longer possible and will result in an error message. Instead, you have two options:
    • Copy the files you want to import to your I drive and follow this tip sheet to import from your Import File Drive.

If the Import File Drive isn’t available, follow this tip sheet to create a new shortcut to a mapped network drive. You should then be able to import from that drive in Epic (it will be slower than Import File Drive, but you don’t have to copy/move files).
