To keep HM patient and employee data safe, you must update your password at least once a year (every 365 days). Passwords require a minimum of 15 characters and at least three of the following:
- Uppercase letter
- Lowercase letter
- Number (0 – 9)
- Special character ($, !, @, #, etc.)
Your password must not include:
- Any part of your name.
- Any part of your HM username.
- Any part of the words “Houston” or “Methodist”.
- Any of your previous five passwords.
Weak or insecure passwords may not be accepted by the system, or if it’s determined to be too similar to previously used passwords and common words or phrases, e.g., Astros1234 or Spring2022. By calling the IT Service Desk and pressing 1, you can follow the prompts to receive a link via text message to reset your password.
