Houston Methodist upgraded to Epic v2018 at 4 a.m. Nov. 11, an hour ahead of schedule. So far, there have been minimal issues and help desk call volumes are low.
“The success of this upgrade reflects the strong partnership between our operational and technical teams,” said Darby Dennis, IT vice president. “It is through everyone’s hard work and dedication that we’re able to deliver innovative solutions such as the nursing “Brain” that support clinical workflows and enhance patient care.”
Epic v2018 brings key enhancements including: an LDA Avatar that provides a visual representation of the patient to help the care team; the “Brain,” which puts important patient information and tasks in one place for nurses and several user-friendly features to help users better navigate Epic.
We also implemented OnBase, a new scanning and imaging system that replaces MPF. OnBase provides an advanced document imaging platform with superior integration with Epic and improved scanning workflows.
If you need guidance on new workflows or upgrade changes, refer to your role-based Upgrade Companion, located in the Epic Learning Home or here. If you have technical issues, contact the IT Help Desk.
