For Inpatient Physicians and Nurses
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) consult orders are part of a new workflow, as of Oct. 16. This process is an important step to a survivor’s recovery and will allow for proper collection of forensic evidence that can help prosecute an offender. The change comes as a result of sexual assault victims being admitted to inpatient floors without proper examination. Today, nurses specially trained in SANE procedures should be contacted for a SANE consult order through your ED charge nurse.
