Beginning today, Jan. 10, exporting any files or reports from Epic containing personal health information to a computer or network drive will require you to create a password to encrypt the file.
Passwords must contain at least the following:
- Six characters
- One upper case character (A-Z)
- One lower case character (a-z)
- One number (0-9)
- One special character (!, $, #,%)
If you need to share the file with another person, provide the password by phone, text or separate email. This change protects patient data and complies with HIPAA and Houston Methodist security policies.
