New BPA for Risk of Patient Falls

For Inpatient Nurses

There is a new BestPractice Advisory (BPA) that pops up when a patient is at high risk for falls for the acute care population (excluding behavioral health or maternal falls risk). The BPA prompts you to select a Falls Precaution order and intervention by modifying the Care Plan. The BPA will pop up every hour until the Care Plan is added.

The original BPA has been modified to only fire every four hours for a Low or Moderate falls risk score. This change is to reduce the distraction from the BPA popping up unnecessarily, while maintaining the need for timely patient safety precautions to be put in place.
