Sepsis Order Sets Updated

Starting Monday, March 4, sepsis fluid bolus exception documentation will now be included in ED Sepsis, Inpatient Sepsis and Perinatal Sepsis order sets. This will meet the CMS requirement for documentation of the exception to the 30mL/kg fluid requirement for severe sepsis with intentional hypotension, septic shock or lactic acid of 4 or more, when the care provider has opted to give less fluid.
Instructions
- Order sepsis fluid bolus through the appropriate sepsis order set.
- Select fluid type and amount of fluid to be given.
- For non-obese patients, answer if the dose is 30 mL/kg.
- If the answer is No, select reasons for the exception.
