Facebook Warns Users
Over 400 Scam Apps May Have Stolen Your Login Credentials
Facebook issued a warning this week to one million users letting them know their personal data may have been stolen by downloading malicious apps. There are over 400 scam apps (disguised as business analytics, photo editors, horoscopes, fitness trackers, etc.) that encourage or require you to log in to them with your Facebook credentials. In reality, the apps offer very little to no service and are just a way for scammers to steal your login credentials.
You may have downloaded one of the scam apps if you received a notification from Meta or Facebook stating, “You have logged into Facebook from a malicious app designed to steal your Facebook account information.”
If you think you downloaded one of these apps, log on to your Facebook account and update your security settings and password. For more information, view this article from 9to5mac.com
