On Tuesday, Oct. 31, three units at HMH (Dunn 7W, Dunn 9E and the MICU) will start the second part of a systemwide clinical communications initiative with the replacement of their current TC52 mobile devices for new iPhone 13s.
With the shared mobile device replacement initiative, iPhone 13s will be provided to units that previously had the TC52s phones. These phones will continue to use Rover for integration with Epic. Other benefits include:
- Push notifications from Secure Chat or Epic updates will appear in Rover, accompanied by an audible tone.
- Operations Assistants (OAs) will be able to communicate with the care team and view on-call schedules, phone directories and each patient’s care team.
- Admins can use Vocera Edge to easily communicate with others on-call.
The rollout will continue at HMH in December 2023, and to other hospitals in January and February 2024. More details on using the iPhone 13 will be provided as each unit replaces devices.
Note: It’s essential that you complete care team assignments and follow all communication guidelines. With the new devices, you must sign into the appropriate Treatment Team.
Care teams impacted include nursing (ED, ICU, med/surg, OACY/Peri-Op and women’s services), respiratory therapy, PT/OT/speech and inpatient/outpatient wound care. If you’re interested in being a Super User, please let your supervisor know.
