The Travel Screening activity in Epic is now updated to screen and alert staff of a potential risk of infection in response to recent COVID-19 advisories from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Four countries — Iran, Italy, Japan and South Korea — are now included with China as high-risk countries in the Travel Screening activity.An additional section on a patient’s Storyboard will indicate their travel screening and COVID-19 risk status. A BestPractice Advisory (BPA) with additional directions will also appear for patients identified as Potential risk for COVID-19.
To ensure accurate identification of potential risk patients, be sure to complete all the questions in the Travel Screening activity, which must be renewed every 24 hours.Patients are identified as a Potential risk for COVID-19 if each of the following are indicated in the Travel Screening:

Symptoms include cough and/or fever.

Marked Yes to international travel within the last month.

Travel to a high-risk country (China, Iran, Italy, Japan or South Korea) in the last 14 days.
