Allergy Documentation Improvements in Epic

For All Providers and Clinicians

On Monday, Sept. 23, allergy documentation will be updated in Epic. This improvement helps you record patients’ allergies more accurately, avoiding possible treatment option restrictions.

Here are some of the improvements.

• Discourages using Other or free-text entry.
• Required documentation of reactions: drop-down menu will list of common and serious reactions, like anaphylaxis, hives, rash, GI bleeding, etc.
• Pharmacist alerts when Other allergy entries are present.
