Workday Project Ramping Up, Systemwide Launch in 2026

In early 2026, Houston Methodist will launch Workday to manage many of our audit, human resources, financial, supply chain and planning functions. Workday will replace MARS and is the industry leader in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Workday will be HM’s second-largest transactional platform, after Epic. Every employee will interact with it in some way, whether through payroll, benefits, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, learning, supply chain, accounting, grants or development.

More than 50 Workday project team members, along with consulting partners and HM executive leadership, met in April for a planning activation workshop at Bellaire Place. Ken Letkeman, chief information officer, and Michelle Stansbury, vice president of innovation and IT applications, welcomed the group and set an upbeat tone for the project.

“I encourage the project team to consider how we can align our needs with Workday,” Letkeman said. “Currently, we have several hundred third-party application integrations. Workday presents us with a unique opportunity to streamline our customers’ experiences as well as our operations. As we plan and design for our future, I want to empower you to challenge the way work is done today and consider how design decisions might positively impact our customers.”

Members of KPMG, our Workday implementation partner, shared lessons learned from helping other healthcare clients with their respective launches of Workday. KPMG also outlined roles and expectations, critical processes for program success, program governance, meeting schedules, best practices for transferring knowledge and a high-level timeline.

The cross-functional project team includes employees from HR, Finance, Research, Supply Chain and IT. The project team will reside at Bellaire Place during the duration of the project.
