Starting Tuesday, Jan. 9, our first group of clinical units—WT12 MICU, Dunn 9E and 7W—will begin the replacement of current TC52 phones with new iPhone 13s. On Monday, Jan. 22, remaining units at HMH will begin the rollout.
The new iPhones will include Epic Rover, for mobile patient chart review and documentation, as well as Secure Chat communications with sound alerts and pop-up messages for push notifications. A Vocera Edge app on each device will enable placing and receiving calls, including an integration with Epic to identify patient treatment teams for direct calling. A scanning app will work with Epic to activate the phone camera for barcode scanning.
Training will be provided as each unit goes live, with tip sheets, at-the-elbow support and on-site learning labs for hands-on, drop-in assistance.
