How to Disable NameDrop Feature on iPhones

Police departments across the country have sent out privacy warnings about Apple’s latest iOS 17.1 update for iPhones. The update includes a feature called NameDrop that allows for contact information to be shared easily.

NameDrop lets you share your contact information just by bringing two iPhones close together. However, security experts warn that this feature can lead to users unintentionally sharing their contact information.

To disable this feature, go to Settings > General > Airdrop. There, you’ll see Bringing Devices Together. Slide the toggle left to the off position. Remember to also change these settings on your children’s phones.
