The Next Steps in Advancing Clinical Communications

Several initiatives are underway to promote better communications among clinicians. First, we’re improving the ability for clinicans to view on-call schedules and contact instructions. We’ve also launched QGenda, the systemwide on-call platform integrated with Epic in the On-Call Finder tab, at HMCCH, HMCL, HMW and part of HMH. Current plans include expanding access to additional provider teams and service line groups at HMH, as well as the rest of the system next year.

We’re also in the process of bringing iPhone 13s to three units at HMH (Dunn 7W, Dunn 9E and MICU). These phones will replace existing TC52s and use Rover and a Vocera Edge app for calling and other mobile integrations. This change will improve push notification awareness with audible tones and improved communications between OAs and care teams, with awareness of on-call schedules and phone directories.

The expectation is to start with the three units in Dec and the rest of HMH in Jan 2024. The community hospitals are planned for Feb-Apr 2024. More details on using the iPhone 13 will be provided as each unit replaces their devices.
