Effective Tuesday, Oct. 10, Penicillin G IVs will be converted to mg from unit to allow Alaris pumps to display the dose more accurately. Alaris pumps are limited to doses up to five digits (10,000), so they can’t accommodate NICU dosing for PCN-G.
Note: Standard conversion of Penicillin G Potassium is 40,000 units = 23.95 mg.
