BPA: New Acknowledgement Reasons for EDI
To ensure documentation options are more aligned with what clinicians need, the acknowledgement reasons for the Epic Deterioration Index (EDI) score increase BPA were recently updated.
As a reminder, when EDI increases by more than seven points in eight-hour periods and the total score is 60 or above, a BPA will appear. Here are the acknowledgement options:
-
Will reassess and notify provider– notify the provider and reassess the patient.
-
I am not the primary nurse– if you’re in the patient’s chart, but not the primary nurse.
-
Known patient condition– if the patient’s provider is aware of the current condition.
-
Other – the reason isn’t listed above. A free response entry is required.
