Beginning Sunday, April 19, look for changes in the way inpatient orders are modified. These improvements are based on Epic community feedback to make the process more efficient and help prevent errors.
New inpatient orders
The For field is NOT cleared when a clinician changes the medication frequency while placing a new inpatient order or verifying one in the pharmacy. This happens so the clinician doesn’t need to re-enter the number of doses.
Modified inpatient orders
The For field IS cleared when a clinician changes the medication frequency while modifying a signed inpatient order. This happens so the clinician must always manually re-enter the number of doses.
